| Breath awareness is the most important benefit of any yoga but with pre-natal yoga you can begin right now. Find a comfortable position perhaps on your side, after the first trimester, avoid lying completely flat, be supported with a pillow or blanket under legs or back. Close eyes and begin to notice your breath, inhaling and exhaling through the nose(unless of course this is uncomfortable due to cold or something). Begin to deepen the breath without forcing. Place hands on belly and feel the expansion, make space for the baby. Notice you can expand into the rib area. Allow the breath to nurture you and baby. Practice this for a few minutes. Feel the breath begin in the lower abdomen, moving up to the ribs and being completed at the throat. This is our basic yoga breath, our three part breathing. Feel renewed, relaxed, and alive! | |
